hometown snow cursed

falling away, sky forgot her angles and she forgot
sky’s name. Without a sundog, sky and snow
never reconciled. Each tipped over the other’s framed photograph so only occasionally
glintings off tack heads in the hardware reminded them of finer days and, vaguely, of nights and moons.

she instead stole all the anonymous benefits
of her chosen storm. Sky’s conscience, free and clear. The rings
of bright and glinting crystals also fell.
